Nature brings to us one of her exquisite creations by weaving intricate patterns on the winter surface of puddles. If you examine frozen puddles very properly, carefully and patiently without fear being accused of madness, than you will be rewarded by these beautiful icy creatures which will appear to you in the morning light.I found them near by a farm, in a big puddle of frozen water. The title of this drawing is "Ice Farmer "as you have already correctly derived from my writing.
The farmer is surrounded by a number of friendly poikilotherms which are invisibly connected to each other in order to keep right body temperature.
I cordially recommend to everybody just keep your eyes open and enjoy from these little things. You know, dear reader, they can quickly dissolve without you have noticed it. Once disappeared, forever disappeared.
(for people outside of the Netherlands)
Roads in the central urban belt of the country are in ‘total chaos’ following hours of heavy snow. Snow and ice have led to long jams in many places, with parts of Amsterdam coming to a complete standstill. Yesterday, by 19.00 hours, the motoring organisation ANWB reported a very slight easing of problems on the roads. The jams totalled 753 km by 17.00, making Friday the sixth busiest rush hour of all time.
This morning I heard on radio that many people stucked in the traffic jam until 2.00 a.m !!!!

On the other hand, winter is also very nice if you get up early in the morning as I did today.
I went to Naarden to make some pictures. Just for fun. Walking in the silent and people-less streets (it reminded me Anton Pieck drawings) until I did not feel my toes and fingers......
Everything is OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end.
A cup of coffee and warm apple turnover (appelflap) made my day.....
TODAY WAS GOOD.
Yes, that's true. But today it was really very good. I was enjoying a beautiful christmas concert performed by Trajecti Voces, at Geertekerk in Utrecht. To get an impression watch this short video I found on You Tube.
The performance at Geertekerk, Utrecht was absolutely amazing. Playing old Czech Christmas pieces (Zelenka, Tuma), serving svařák (glühwein). What can you wish more? I "got some chills" when Murni Suwetja, soprano, started singing.....
If you ever get a chance, go for it! You will not be disappointed!
After concert I walked in the dark and cold city but inside of me I was warm (not only from glühwein) and happy. Everybody and everything was happy at this moment. Even the canal houses seemed to be happy...
