I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life. Dr.Seuss

Caravan (or Trailer)

Time, you old gipsy man,
Will you not stay,
Put up your caravan
Just for one day?

Rabbit

There was an Old Person whose habits,
Induced him to feed upon RABBITS;
When he'd eaten eighteen,
He turned perfectly green,
Upon which he relinquished those habits.
Edward Lear

Ramon

Ramon, you are unbelievably beautiful
When I am near you my heart goes like a raging bull
I am not sure you will like my poem
But know that my heart is overthrown
(poem by Mr. Cynara Scolymus)

That Head

That Head

I suppose I've passed him a hundred times,
but I always stop for a minute
And look at his head, that tragic head,
the head with nobody in it.

Pears

I took these photographs yesterday late in the afternoon. I did a short walk in the fields nearby my house.  Some bitten pears laying in the grass caught my eye. I was wondering who was the epicure enjoying the juicy fruit. Strangely, there was not a single pear tree in a wide surrounding. Who was the eater? Where the pears came from? The answer, however, could be hidden in this poem by Edward Lear:

There was an Old Man of Girgenti,
Who lived in profusion and plenty;
He lay on two chairs,
and ate thousands of pears,
That susceptible Man of Girgenti.

Gedichten

Door mevr. A., een lezeres van dit blog, werd ik geattendeerd op de poëzie van Daan Zonderland en andere Nederlandse plezier- en nonsensdichters. Ik kende ze niet. Geniet maar lees met mate !

Daan Zonderland

'Het is tijd om te gaan,
Tijd, ondanks de klokken,
Tijd, ofschoon de kunstenaars
Nog naar Arti sjokken.

Alles gaat voorbij, mijn lief,
Niets blijft bij het oude.
Zelfs de liedjes die ik zing,
Zijn je reinste claude.

Fram is boos en schrijft niet meer,
Abri koos een ander
En die hebben liefgehad
Schreien om elkander,

Schreien, schoon de zomerbries
Door de blaren ritselt,
Want de Duitse bief is stuk
En de Weense schnitzelt.'

Een oude man in Gaasterland
Die nam een bronzen vaas ter hand
En sloeg - niet zonder tegenzin -
Zijn goede vrouw de schedel in
Toen men hem daarop arresteerde
En naar de rede informeerde,
Zei hij - zonder plichtplegingen -
‘Uit schoonheidsoverwegingen.’

Kees Stip - Op twee slakken

Twee slakken waren al sinds jaren
Op weg van Groningen naar Haren
Tenslotte kwam geheel ontdaan
de oudste aan het eindpunt aan
Hij slikte en sprak diep bewogen:
'Mijn broer is uit de bocht gevlogen.'

John O'Mill - Of mice and men

Kleine muisjes hebben kleine wensjes
Beschuitjes met gestampte mensjes
