This is about the desire of people to "climb the social ladder" and the anxieties how one is perceived by others.....
...................
Although there is an excessive amount comments of 'the-emperors-new-clothes' type , yes, it seems the Blogger Is dying...so here is again my attempt (or contribution) to slow down this process a little bit ;)
It is just as a food: you have fast food and you have slow food( I suppose blogger is rather slowish, don't you think?)
(Thanks for your valuable contribution, Mr.T)

Wow, LT, sometimes you post a work and I have no words.
ReplyDeleteSo please fill in a pause of six, seven minutes before this note of me just staring, wanting to let you KNOW I'm looking at this, and finding no words.
Confined by the bars, the squeezy little tower, really makes me think of how constricting it is to be perpetually constructing a view of ourselves from outside, judging self as though we were 'other', rather than broadly viewing the world and functioning within it from our own perspective. A shattered, constricted way of living.
Great piece.
thanks for many wow's :), Aino! Actually I like the first six , seven minutes the best! :)
DeleteWell said, Aino!
DeleteTom, Aino is not only good illustrator she is also great with words !!
DeleteOh well its true...me and Ted have been discussing this...blogger traffic is down...I can handle being on one of the lower rings of the social ladder though...it is more important for me to go through the art process for my own meditative state rather than hope people will actually like the results....not many visit any more...but to be honest it doesn't matter because half of what is written is BULLSHIT anyway!!!l I'll tell you the truth...I honestly like this :)
ReplyDeleteI like this Rod, and as my granny always said: honesty is the best policy !
DeleteLet's follow her wisdom!
Thank you , Rod.
What Rod said.
DeleteI am in awe
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Tom, I really appreciate it. I think that all of us always hope that our images DO something with the audience . As Denis Diderot once wrote in his essay about paintings, " 'move me, surprise me, touch me, let shudder, weep, tremble, fill me with indignation. " I like that.
DeleteThought-provoking and captivating!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne!
DeleteBeen busy climbing the social ladder but happy to see that meanwhile some people have made some actually worthwhile contributions to our society... What a weird ad thought-provoking piece of art!
ReplyDeletethank you, Sasa!
DeleteIt looks like the falling tower is supported by sticks? The fear of falling.
ReplyDeleteExactly, the fear....
DeleteYes, Blogger has really slowed down, but people are still doing amazing work, of which this is one. This is not an emperor's-new-clothes comment, either, but I look and look at this--this fellow is trapped, but his eyes are so intense, and he is so aware/alive. The part of him trapped in the tower, also watching, but more passive and accepting, seems calmer. I really love the colors/textures, separate from the "content" as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Coreopsis, thanks !
ReplyDeleteSoo good!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your "soo good" ! :)
DeleteMy oh my, look at all these comments. Art is Jokken is not dead. Yayyy!
ReplyDeleteI have a question: 'The Emperor's New Clothes' is a story about people not telling the truth; they won't say the King has no clothes, because they don't want to look foolish. That's what it means to me. That people always give nice comments, not true comments. But I feel it means something a bit different to you in regards to social media?
I agree with your description.Indeed, I meant the same. Nothing more, nothing less. it was just statement of fact. But is your question related to this drawing/painting posted on this page ?
